Take care when you are fishing, a little extra time checking for ticks could save you a world of suffering.

I don't think you have to worry up your way yet.  It is the deer ticks (black legged ticks) that carry lime disease and I'm pretty sure they are not in your area.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

In one of the articles, it mentions a guy getting lyme disease while visiting Nova Scotia in the 1990's and Lyme Disease being found in several New Brunswick locations in 2006. I'm pretty sure it is in his area.

when i was probaly 9 or 10 maybe i was playing out in the yard and i kept picking at my head.It felt like i had a big bug bite there and a scab that i just couldnt pick off.i went in the house and asked mark to look at my head.I knew he was starteled when he seen it,he wouldnt tell me what it was.He grabbed a piece of foil i believe out of his cigarette pack and dug this thing out of my head(not with ease either).i said what is that he asked me were i had been playing and i said out in the yard like always.he told me it was a tick and explained  a little about them to me and it kind of freaked me out and i think it freaked him out a bit too.I didnt get lyme disaese ,i think it may have caused PERMANENT SWEELLING OF THE HEAD though  :D.

They are down here as far as the south shore but not on the north or eastern shore. There are some cases here in Lunenburg county.  Still really rare, something to be aware of but not to fear.

remembers a report of them being in the city and then found this...for all NS people

Nova Scotia's Health Promotion and Protection Department lists four areas known to have blacklegged tick populations:

Pictou County — Melmerby Beach, Egerton, Kings Head and Pine Tree.

Lunenburg County — Blue Rocks, Garden Lots, Heckmans Island, First Peninsula.

Halifax County — Admirals Cove in Bedford

Shelburne County — Gunning Cove

Everyone should just stay away from Barneys River for their own safety.
I'm from the SS so I'm used to them, I will fish the river and let everyone know if it's ok ;D ;D

Actually I shit you not, that area is a real hot spot to lyme.
Been around the world and found that only stupid people are breeding....

Good morning Gentlemen,
What a subject to have to deal with, every fall I run into this problem hunting my dogs,If you get one on you (attached) don't ever dig them out. Once the head has gone below your skin, trying to dig or pull them out will only break the body off leaving the head and anything they may be infected with.
What you want to do is cover the body with something like vasoline, this keeps them from being able to breath and they will back out on their own.Once out, kill them.
